Awards and Honours

The All India Artist Association (AIAA), Shimla has always believed that true artistry deserves recognition. Through its various awards and honours, the Association acknowledges exceptional contributions in theatre, dance, music, and allied performing arts. These recognitions are not just titles — they are a tribute to the passion, creativity, and cultural service of artists who embody AIAA’s guiding vision of “National Integration Through Art.”

Sudarshan Gour Kala Gaurav Samman

This honour celebrates extraordinary contributions to theatre and performing arts, especially for those who have promoted education, mentorship, and artistic growth. It reflects AIAA’s continuing commitment to supporting both excellence and community building in the arts.

Gopi Krishna National Award​

Dance has always been at the heart of India’s cultural expression, and this award is dedicated to recognising excellence in classical and contemporary dance. Inspired by the legendary dancer Gopi Krishna, the honour is awarded to performers who show innovation, mastery, and a commitment to keeping dance alive across generations. 

Sudarshan Gour Lifetime Achievement Award​

Named in memory of AIAA’s founder, this is the Association’s most prestigious recognition. It is conferred upon artists whose lifelong work has significantly enriched theatre, drama, dance, or cultural life in India.

Balraj Sahni Award​

In 2025, the award was presented to Padma Shri Pran Sabharwal and Smt. Sunita Pran Sabharwal at Patiala. In 2023, theatre personality Shri Prashant Bhagat received the honour during the 68th All-India Drama & Dance Competition in Shimla. This award represents not only a celebration of individual brilliance but also a deep respect for dedication to the arts across decades.
